Taking centre stage at Auckland’s City Works Depot, Odettes Eatery omits a warm, easy-going interior inside the late-1960’s maintenance sheds. While keeping the industrial feel with its high ceilings and expansiveness, Odettes captures a softer, calm feeling within the space keeping it homely with timber panelling, glazed tiles, oversized cushions and fresh linen napkins.
Lighting design always needs to be well considered to identify the requirements and create a purposeful configuration. Bespoke hand-blown pendants were installed as a feature but have not overwhelmed the space, with warm light luminaries to disperse an even, welcoming tone throughout the dining area in keeping with the atmosphere our clients were wanting to achieve.
Odettes transitions throughout the day, from a breakfast spot to evening dining and is also a venue for hosting events. The lighting in the space needed to cater to all of these situations, table lamps at POS stations and wall mounted lamp shades keep with the homely vibe portrayed throughout the day and adapt as a source of mood lighting moving into the evening.
The bar area is fitted with top mounted LED strip lighting on top of the floating shelves, illuminated the array of wine and spirits. Beautifully glossy, fish scale tiles are flushed with light from under the bar-top creating an enticing invitation to perch up for a cocktail.
The cosy feeling created inside finds its way outdoors with radiant heaters and ambient garden lighting installed in the covered alfresco area transforming it for entertainment all year round.
A casually luxurious environment with a beautifully resolved electrical design.
